Historic Follansbee Terne II Tin Roof Restoration

Sugarsbridge Contractors recently restored a classic rolling porch roof in the heart of West Chester, PA. After addressing significant structural decay, we reached into our reserve of specialized materials for something truly unique: a few remaining rolls of discontinued Follansbee Terne II tin.

The Sugarsbridge Standard:

  • Rare Materials: We utilized our final remaining coils of Follansbee Terne II (discontinued in 2011) to maintain the home's original aesthetic and historical accuracy.

  • Old-World Technique: The installation features 1/2” flat lock soldered seams with hidden cleats and stainless fasteners, a method that ensures a permanent, watertight seal without compromising the historic look.

  • Premium Preservation: The project was finished with a high-performance primer and two coats of premium acrylic, providing maximum protection against the elements for decades to come.
